This division is for both male and female gamers. The foundation of the XGC division is the XGC Honor Code. We take the Honor Code very seriously. » The Outstanding Family Of XGC UNKNOWN |

"The Outstanding Family OF XGC Unknown"
Two years ago you would have went to the forums for unknown and seen a barren waste land with not much people posting. Three people took it upon themselves to change that. At this point in time they stand at a staggering 20,066 posts! XGC Maynard XD, SYN King XD, and XGC Renrraw were the ones that got it going but the general of the clan (CDIAB FACE a.k.a. XGC Skarface) gives all the credit to the outstanding members of the clan. They have come to form a tight nit family over a couple of years, and have had few conflicts among themselves.
Skarface, and the leaders before him have stressed repetition in their leaders, and up and coming leaders. Having the captains type out the schedules for their squads that week, and who is in their squad. Also having Saturday classes for the new members of the clan to teach them how to navigate and interact on the forums. The leaders stressed to the newer members to post on the... [Read More]

» Mercs 2 Getting Obama and Palin as DLC |
|
Oct 31, 2008 - 8:23 PM - by KoG Future
|
Presidential candidate Barack Obama and Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be appearing in Mercenaries 2 as downloadable content, according to a video report from X-Play (via GamePolitics). Obama issues some "change" to the innards of a tank commander, while Palin exercises her pit bull tenacity on an unsuspecting helicopter pilot. As GamePolitics notes, the Venezuelan government has already expressed outrage at the invasion theme in Mercs 2, and including our actual candidates is likely to get another round of comments from Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.
Politics have certainly taken a portion of the spotlight among the gaming community this season, with Obama winning Xbox Live's Rock the Vote poll and subsequently placing ads in Burnout Paradise. All the buzz has even garnered some amount of mainstream attention on how gamers are reacting to the... [Read More]

» Sony 'Madly Working' to Release Home in 2008 |
|
Oct 28, 2008 - 4:34 PM - by KoG Future
|
Sony is hard at work on making sure its Home social network interface is done and available to the public before the end of 2008, reports CVG. Speaking at the Game 3.0 Conference in London, Sony Worldwide Studio vice president Jamie MacDonald commented that the developers are "madly working to make sure that date is hit, and it's going very well."
He went on to explain that the inspiration behind Home was seeing that for the average gamer, most online interaction is "geeky, tedious, and short." MacDonald says, "I got into a first person shooter online and I lasted about 15 seconds. It's not much fun. So that was really our driving force with Home, to provide an environment where it's fun to go, you can hang out with like-minded people."
Despite its history of delays, all indications are that Sony will hit the 2008... [Read More]

» Economic Downturn May Hurt Small Publishers Much More Than Large Publishers |
|
Oct 28, 2008 - 4:31 PM - by KoG Future
|
<center> </center>
Conventional wisdom holds that the current economic downturn won't have any effect on the video game industry. But even if games do indeed take the place the movies as America's recession comfort food, how will the smallest publisher hold up in an era of greatly reduced spending?
Gamasutra tackled this question in an analysis of how publishers large and small are reacting to the poor economy. Analysts like Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian are cautiously optimistic that sales will hold out, but that there are a few trends that the industry should be aware of. Namely, that launch sales are usually brisk, but quickly drop off.
Who does that hurt? Not the big fish like Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, who have a slew of blockbuster games to their names. It's the smaller publishers who are feeling the pinch,... [Read More]

» Activision's Brian Bright Confirms DJ Hero Development |
|
Oct 28, 2008 - 4:28 PM - by KoG Future
|
Way back in February, Activision filed to trademark "DJ Hero," and since then a couple of unofficial reports have popped up regarding the DJ-based rhythm game, which is purportedly being developed for Activision by FreeStyleGames. What we haven't seen before is any official acknowledgment from Activision themselves that the game actually exists, but thanks to Guitar Hero World Tour project director Brian Bright, all the world (or those who actually care about this, anyway) can rest easy knowing it is indeed in the works.
In an interview with Joystiq, Bright was asked about what his team's next project would be. "Activision's doing a DJ Hero game, and I can't comment on what we're doing," Bright said. "But... we're working on the future and next gen. If I wasn't excited about it I wouldn't be there."
Awesome to know the World Tour team... [Read More]

» New Study Reveals Parents See Benefits of Kids Playing Games |
|
Oct 18, 2008 - 11:47 PM - by KoG Future
|
In June, Yahoo!-owned website Shine, which reaches 10 million women a month, hosted a survey that revealed enough information on the more positive effects of videogames to simultaneously implode the minds of both Lieberman and Thompson.
The study, which came from Sony Online Entertainment LLC -- so yeah, call foul if you like -- revealed that 87% of parents surveyed play videogames with their children and 70% feel their children's problem-solving skills have improved since they started playing videogames. Additionally, 75% have attributed educational value and improved hand/eye coordination to videogame usage, 84% reported an increase in their child's typing skills from playing PC/online games, 72% believe their kids play games online with other people sometimes or all the time, and 80% say their children play videogames in a common area of the house (i.e. family/living room... » Microsoft Sued in California Over Xbox 360 Hardware Failures |
|
Oct 16, 2008 - 1:55 AM - by SYN Chandler XL
|
Class action lawsuit may force Microsoft to implement a refund program and surrender profits from the Xbox 360.
More reliable Xbox 360s are starting to trickle onto the market, but the fallout from the "red rings of death" remains. Now they're facing a class action lawsuit in California.
Kotaku (via Daily Games News) is reporting that the lawsuit was filed under California's consumer protection statutes, and alleges that Microsoft knew that the system would suffer a 50 percent failure rate, but concealed the knowledge to compete with the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3. The suit cites articles from sources such as VentureBeat and Yahoo! to support its claims.
If Microsoft loses the suit, they will potentially have to implement a refund program in California as well as surrender profits relating to Xbox 360 sales. But even if they win, it doesn't look like... [Read More]

» Free N+ Level Pack Bounds Onto Xbox Live |
|
Oct 15, 2008 - 5:23 PM - by KoG Future
|
<center> </center>
Developer Metanet dropped a 332 KB bomb on Xbox Live today, in the form of a new level pack for their minimalistic platformer N+. The download adds a whopping 150 single-player levels to the game, as well as 50 co-op and race stages -- roughly one third of the total number of levels originally included with the game. What's an update this substantial go for on the Xbox Live Marketplace? Free of charge, believe it or not.
It may be little more than a band-aid for all those ninja warriors still sore over Microsoft pulling level sharing from N+, but offering free content is a great way to reinvigorate a game's fanbase. Just ask Criterion how Burnout Paradise is doing if you need any proof of that.

In what's becoming a trend, Washington D.C. joins the ranks of more than 500,000 businesses and organizations with its head in the clouds. District CTO Vivik Kundra inked an agreement with Google that will port the organization's 38,000 employees over to Google Apps.<o></o>
<o></o>
According to Bloomberg, the agreement, which was signed back in June, is worth almost $500,000 a year and will include applications like Gmail, Google Docs, Google Video for business, and Google Sites to District employees. The latest win comes as another notch in Google's belt, as its Google Apps has been well received since launching a little over two years ago as Gmail for your domain.<o></o>
